A few months ago I had the privilege of traveling to Lake Lure to photograph the kids at Camp Care as a volunteer with Flashes of Hope. Both Flashes of Hope and Camp Care are nonprofit organizations established to encourage and enhance the lives of children battling cancer. My little cousin is a cancer survivor herself, so I know at least a little bit about what these children are going through, and I’m thankful to have had the opportunity to help put a smile on their faces. I mainly photographed the younger boys, who I was told would be the toughest crowd, but we had a blast. They kept me laughing as they goofed off as boys do. Design Aglow posted some tips today on their blog regarding using Twitter as a photographer. You can check it out here. They were nice enough to feature me, along with a couple of other great photographers, and offered some good tips on ways to set up your twitter profile to maximize effectiveness. For more tips, they have also just released The Photography Web Marketing Guide, which you may remember me mentioning from this post. It’s an awesome resource, and I highly recommend it.
I am currently looking for a few models for my workshop in August. The workshop will be August 15-19th but the tentative date I will need you is the evening of August 18th. I need one couple (dating, engaged, or married), one family (with 1-3 young children), and a few individuals (guys and/or girls ages 18-30). Modeling experience is not necessary, and actually, not preferred. Students taking part in the workshop need practice working with everyday clients who aren’t used to posing themselves, or being in front of a camera. If you are chosen I will send you a model release form to complete, and more detailed information. Models will be compensated with a disc of edited images by workshop students, along with a copyright release. Preferably, models should be from the Charlotte area, but it is not mandatory. Travel expenses will not be covered.
