As a photographer, I often find myself viewing my surroundings in terms of “good photo locations.” Whether I’m on a trip out of town, or driving to the grocery store, I seem to always have my eyes open for ideas. There’s a spot along the road that I drive to church every week that has had me dreaming up ideas for months now. A few weeks ago I was driving along that road, and, as usual, I slowed down to admire “the spot” as I passed by. And I suddenly had an extreme geek out moment. The whole area had exploded with wisteria blooms. Absolutely gorgeous. Unfortunately, due to this crazy weather we’ve been having, I wasn’t able to capture the scene before the blooms died off. But, I did have an upcoming bridal shoot, and I was still in love with the whole atmosphere of the place, so I was able to get in touch with the owner of the land and get permission to photograph there. As I ventured over to check things out before the shoot, I was lucky enough to cross paths with the daughter of the man I had been in contact with. She drove me around and told me a bit about her family and the land. Such a neat little serendipitous meeting.
It was such a privilege to photograph here, and Shelley was an awesome bride to work worth…venturing through the tall grass and overgrown bushes in her dress and high heels. I ended up with at least 10 bug bites on my left foot. But it was all worth it because I’m so excited about these images. Shelley, I hope you enjoy them too!
