At the beginning of November I had the opportunity to travel to Wilmington, NC and assist Rachel Barker of Millie Holloman Photography with a wedding there.  It ended up being quite the eventful weekend, completely unrelated to the wedding, but it was still a lot of fun.  To view Rachel’s recent blog post from that wedding, click here. Obviously, any photo with Rachel’s signature in the corner was taken by her, but you can see some of my shots scattered throughout the post as well. I had hoped to post some shots here on my blog as well, but I ended up without any of the photo files due to a dumb move on my part…but that’s another story that I will not venture to delve into. 🙂

In other news, Friday is here! I’m moving this weekend and I’m pretty excited about all of the upcoming decorating that will come along with it.  Also excited to finally get out and about after all this icy weather.  I never look forward to cold weather and I’m always excited for it to go away. Spring, where are you??

I had my first gallery show back in October. While talking with a friend the other day I realized I never posted any photos from the show, so here ya go!  I tried to take some shots during the opening but only ended up with a few.  I was blessed to have so many of my awesome friends and family that came out to support me. Thank you all.  Below is my artist statement that was on display with the photographs.

I’ve always seemed to have a different way of looking at the outside world. Perhaps it is just the mentality of an artist, but I cannot help but be easily captivated by the simple splendor of objects and people and landscapes, some abandoned and forgotten, some magnificent and well-studied. Photography has become my outlet of expression; how I channel my musings into something tangible.

I also possess an ardent love for travel. I take photographs when I travel, borrowing the beauty of the world as it presents itself to us in varying forms and contexts.  When I experience these moments and places, I want to preserve more than just the picture in my mind. With photographs, not only can I relive those moments in such great detail, but I have the added privilege of sharing them with others. The world as I see it, reduced to the bare bones of bricks and mortar is just as beautiful as the most mesmerizing sunset or a child lost in play, and I want to share all of those experiences with anyone who is willing to look.

Hello Everyone!

As 2010 comes to a close, I’ve been working on my new pricing structure for the coming year.  Wedding pricing will be set up completely different and portrait sessions will include a few new and exciting options.  There will be a necessary raise in fees reflecting the quality of products being offered.  However, in gratitude for all of you who have spread the word about Kim Hunter Studio, become loyal clients and friends, or just like to keep up with my blog, I wanted to give you a heads up about the upcoming pricing changes.  If you have been contemplating scheduling a portrait session or are looking for a wedding photographer for the coming year, now is the time to contact me. Book with me by the end of the year to lock in my 2010 pricing for 2011! (Booking requires a non-refundable deposit that will be applied toward the total session or wedding investment).

2010 has been a great year and I’m excited to see what this new year has in store!

I hope all of you have survived the madness that is Black Friday.  I don’t tend to do well in large crowds (with the exception of concerts, oddly enough) so I’ve never ventured out to join the 3am masses.  I did, however, do a little online browsing today for some new equipment that will most likely serve as a few early Christmas presents to myself…and I must say that I am as excited as a little kid on Christmas morning about all of it!  AHHH! Anyway, I thought I’d share a few photos of the precious Kelley family before I head off for MORE Thanksgiving goodness with family tomorrow.  I can’t believe it, but Merritt is already eight months old!  I am completely smitten with this little guy and was so excited I got to photograph him (and his awesome parents!) again.

I am in love…

Max had the idea to bring along a chessboard for some funny pictures of “the men.” I like the way you think, Max. 🙂

    Amanda Scott - Oh. My. Word. He is the cutest thing ever…didn’t think he could get any cuter than your last shoot with them…but he did. I love these, Kim!!! The chess picture needs to be blown up to a huge size. (: I CAN’T WAIT for you to photograph us some day!!!ReplyCancel
