Fighting Your Way Through

I came across this on Eric Ryan Anderson’s blog. So true. Wish I had come across this sooner so I could have shown it during my Workshop! As artists, we tend to be our own worst critics. Mostly because we know what we are capable of, and what we dream to be, but our work just seems to fall short of our aspirations. But it’s that drive to continuously improve that makes a great artist. This is, of course, not to say that I feel like I’ve “arrived” by any means. Quite the contrary. This really resonated with me because I’m currently fully engaged in the fight myself. And, in a way, I hope I always feel that way. I’m afraid of the day when I will ever think I’m as good as I’ll ever be, because that will be the day my work will become stale and lifeless, both to myself and to everyone else.
